How Linkstore works

A store for web apps, run by people. How apps get in, how the lists are ordered, and what the badges mean.

What you can expect

  1. A person checks every app

Before anything goes live, someone opens it, makes sure it works, and checks that the listing says what the app does.

  2. Nothing to install

Press Open and the app loads in a new tab. If you like it, save it so it's one click away next time.

  3. Ratings from real use

One rating per account, and makers can't rate their own apps. Reviews show the reviewer's name.

How the lists are ordered

Each list answers a different question. None of them can be bought.

  1. Releases

Newest first, by the time each app was approved. Every app gets the same spot on its first day, whoever made it.

  2. Top rated

By rating, adjusted for how many people rated. A 4.8 from three people won't outrank a 4.6 from three hundred.

  3. Popular

Saves and opens over the last seven days. Apps people keep coming back to rise here.

  4. Editors' picks

Chosen by us because we use them. Picks are never sold.

For makers

From link to listing

  1. Submit

Paste your link. We read your page once to fill in the name, icon and preview, and you fix anything we got wrong.

  2. In review

A person opens your app and checks it against the rules below. Usually within a couple of days.

  3. Approved, or a note

If something needs fixing, you get a note saying what. Change it and send it back.

  4. Live in Releases

Approved apps go to the top of Releases that day and stay in the store for good.

What we check

  • It runs in a browser. No download needed to try it.
  • It works today. No waitlists or pages for something unbuilt.
  • You made it, or you help run it.
  • The listing is honest about what it does and what it costs.

Badges and labels

Verified
The maker proved they own the site and the app passed review. Free for every maker.
Editors' pick
An app we use and recommend. Never paid for.
Saves
How many people kept the app for later. Saves feed the Popular list, never Releases.
Sponsored
A paid placement. It's always labeled, and it never changes an app's place in Releases, Top rated or Popular.
