What is a PWA?

A progressive web app (PWA) is a web app that can be installed from the browser and open in its own window, like a native app.

A PWA is still a web app, built with ordinary web technology. What makes it installable is a web app manifest, a small file that gives the browser its name, icons and how it should open. Browsers then offer to add it to your home screen or dock.

Many PWAs also use a service worker to load faster and keep working without a connection. Installing one needs no app store, and updates arrive the next time it opens.
